      Variety: Blaufränkisch

      Joiseph is a project started by three friends that was only begun in 2015. The project started at an extremely small scale and grew slowly and modestly. The wines are light and delicious, showcasing some of the best wines to come out of Burgenland right now. “Joiseph” is a bit of a playful ode to their village of Jois from where the vines hale within Burgenland. The wines are honest and straightforward; there is no hiding behind gimmicks or marketing here. 

      ‘BFF’ means ‘Blaufrankisch Forever’ and we couldn’t agree more. Even for a more esoteric variety, this might just be the best on the market. As Vom Boden says, “wow, this wine is fucking good.” Think of all the things one could love of Loire Cabernet Franc and Rhone Syrah, but bring the fresh, lifted style of Austrian reds, and it’s a true winner. Just a hint of semi-carbonic maceration makes it textural and a bit reductive.

      In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations or tax requirements rests with the customer.

      Variety: Pinot Noir 

      Meinklang has taken the wine world by storm in the last few years due to the family's passion for making diverse products from the estate. Farming is at the core, with full bio-dynamic practices in place. The family has a full herd of Angus and Aubrac cattle, plus sheep. The farm believes in a full circle of life within the vineyards and farmland. The family has even achieved Demeter certification, one of the most difficult biodynamic certifications. The estate is located in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of National Park Neusiedlersee in Austria, just on the border of Hungary. The insane number of different wine labels produced shows the passion for creating wine with character and personality, with over 20 labels in production.

      “Nacht” means night, one of four wines from Meinklang’s line of Daytime Wines. As you can see on the label, an egg has completed the hustle and bustle of the day and is surrounded by nightfall. This is Pinot Noir from a single vineyard, carbonically macerated, pressed in whole bunches, and aged in concrete.

      Variety: St. Laurent

      “Morgen” means morning as seen by the sunrise on the label, one of four bottles from Meinklang’s line of Daytime Wines. The juice is 2019 St. Laurent fermented in whole clusters, then aged for one year in concrete. The curve ball is the 2020 Traminer juice added to restart the fermentation, which does make this a natural sparkling, and most definitely a pet-nat. It is complex and fruity, though minerally and yeasty.
