Agnes Paquet, Bourgogne Ali Boit Boit Et Les 40 Buveurs Methode AncestraleRegular price $24.00 Save $-24.00
Making a name for yourself in the wine world is hard no matter where you are based, but being located in Burgundy makes this nearly impossible without a famed family name to back you. Agnes did not have this. What she does have is hard work and a belief in what she is doing. Agnes, year after year, makes elegant and delicate wines with a real sense of place. The wines drink exactly as they should for the level of designation and village they represent.
The name of this fun, natural sparkling means “Alibaba and the forty drinkers.” If that doesn’t sound fun, this Aligote pet-nat will do the trick. The wine is bottled before fermentation ends, giving the wine a hint of sweetness and fizz.
Alta Alella, Celler de Les Aus AUS Pet Nat 2020Regular price $25.00 Save $-25.00

They have always been surrounded by vineyards and bottles; so it is only natural! There is a complete commitment to nature, yet desire to keep with trends. Though the winery is young, the family continually push themselves to learn new things with each vintage. The wines have very low intervention-no added sulfites and little is done to the wines after their grapes have been pressed.
Cirelli, Wines of Anarchy' Frizzante Rose NVRegular price $20.00 Save $-20.00
Francesco Cirelli is a rising star in Abruzzo and has already gained a cult following with select sommeliers in big cities around the world. He pushes boundaries in Abruzzo, where conventional farming has been the norm. Spraying chemicals and overworking the earth is not what he is interested in. After Francesco finished school, he quickly realized he wanted to pursue his love for lamb viticulture and all things wine. He purchased the Estate in 2003 and viewed the grounds as a whole working farm. He now has a mixture of crops and animals he raises, and each element works with each other to make the overall farm function.
Francesco likes to be bold; this is his ode to tradition and rebellion simultaneously. Montepulciano undergoes the pet-nat process, or otherwise known as the natural sparkling method. Fresh, juicy, and bubbly.
Domaine de l'Oubliee, Les Valseuses Pet Nat 2018Regular price $27.00 Save $-27.00
Variety: Chenin Blanc
Xavier Courrant is the winemaker of Domaine de L'Oubliée, which literally means “The Forgotten Domaine.” After years of studying viticulture and work as a wine retailer, he gave in to the constant nagging and purchased three plots of land in the appellation of Bourgueil. A Cabernet Franc-centered growing area, he opted to also grow Chenin Blanc, a complete oddity there. Then again, Xavier does do things on his own terms. Each of his wines are named for a film or novel from Bertand Blier, the French director whom Xavier happens to love. In all, he has about seven hectares of vines, all are certified organic.
There is so much playfulness that goes on in this bottle. Chenin Blanc is the variety here; as it is not a variety that’s grown in Bourgueil, it is deemed a Vin de France. “Les Valseuses” is made into a petillant naturel, aka natural sparkling, using residual sugar in the juice to kick start fermentation. Its name means “The Dancers,” another film reference to Bertrand Blier, and the way the bubbles dance on the tongue.
Julien Braud, La Bulle De L'Ouest Methode AncestraleRegular price $23.00 Save $-23.00
Variety: Melon de Bourgogne
Julien Braud is an exciting young winemaker, one of the few next generation
winemakers in Sevre et Maine, who has taken over part of his family's estate with the mission of pushing the limits of Muscadet and its identity grape, Melon de Bourgogne. The area in general has seen a decline in producers and vineyards in recent years, but Julien Braud is on a mission to bring emphasis and notoriety back to this area, and so far is undeterred! Not only is he farming sustainably and recently certified organic, he brings a quality-minded approach and a sense of whimsy to an otherwise neglected area. His wines effectively over-deliver in quality at their modest price points.
Using all Melon de Bourgogne, or Melon, he has made this fresh, and fun sparkling (also known as Pet-Nat or Methode Ancestrale) that's low in alcohol with a hint of sweetness to be enjoyed at all times.
Marco Barba, Gambellara Barbabolla 2020Regular price $20.00 Save $-20.00
Variety: Garganega (90%), Glera, Trebbiano, Moscato and Riesling
Marco Barba is the name and face behind this project out of the Veneto region in Northern Italy. Before winemaking became a focus, Marco was a carpenter and moved to the Jura mountains in Switzerland where he bred cattle while tending fruits and vegetables. His interest in biodynamic farming grew, ultimately bringing him home. He thus began a new chapter working with friend, Stefano Menti of Menti Wines, and his father in their family business endeavor. Menti Giovanni Farms nurtured his viticultural passion and he started to vinify grapes from vines that he was managing. Today, Marco Barba is a team of three, including his friends, Giulio and Tommaso. They run the winery in a biodynamic-forward manner with respect for nature.
Barba Bolla is a fun way of saying “Barba bubbles” for this wine is done in a pet-nat style with that bit of fizz. This is a blend of white varieties grown in the vineyards that Marco manages. This wine has its biodynamically farmed backing. The winemaking approach is natural of course, but Marco takes a different approach by adding juice from dried grapes to kickstart the fermentation and, simultaneously, the sparkling process.
Meinklang, Rose Frizzante Prosa 2020Regular price $19.00 Save $-19.00
Variety: Pinot Noir, Zweigelt and Blaufränkisch
Meinklang has taken the wine world by storm in the last few years due to the family's passion for making diverse products from the estate. Farming is at the core, with full bio-dynamic practices in place. The family has a full herd of Angus and Aubrac cattle, plus sheep. The farm believes in a full circle of life within the vineyards and farmland. The family has even achieved Demeter certification, one of the most difficult biodynamic certifications. The estate is located in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of National Park Neusiedlersee in Austria, just on the border of Hungary. The insane number of different wine labels produced shows the passion for creating wine with character and personality, with over 20 labels in production.
This is one of the more fun bottles from Meinklang. Their frizzante rose is a winner year after year. Prosa is done in the pet-nat (ancestral method) style and comes out as a lightly fizzy, juicy, naturally low-alcohol rose.
Menti, Roncaie sui Lieviti 2020Regular price $20.00 Save $-20.00
Variety: Garganega (Orange Wine)
The Menti winery is now on the fourth generation of winemaking in Gambellara village in the Veneto region. The winery was begun by Menti Giovanni at the end of the 19th century. It all began with the Garganega grape, along with other agriculture like fruit, legumes, and vegetables. Giovanni decided to cultivate volcanic soils there, knowing perhaps that they would prove to be fruitful. Fast forward to the current generation upheld by Giovanni’s great-grandson, Stefano focuses on biodynamic agriculture and started converting all vineyards to organic growing in 2011. The following year, Stefano decided to no longer bottle his wines as DOC.
This is a fun sparkling bottling from Menti made purely from the Garganega grape which he does so well with. The wine undergoes a second fermentation, which needs a sugar kick-start to initiate it. This is done by way of Albina juice, aka unfermented juice. It is a natural fizzy wine because it does not have the addition of sulfites.
Stolpman Trousseau Pet Nat 'Combe' Ballard Canyon 2019Regular price $45.00 Save $-45.00
When winemakers Pete Stolpman and Rajat Parr decided to collaborate on this particular project, wondrous things inevitably would happen. The project is named “Combe'' for the French word referring to a sheltered valley in a vineyard. Pete and his parents had been growing native French varietals in Ballard Canyon for years, though once Raj discovered the pale limestone soils, the Jura native variety Trousseau made its home here. They bottled a Pet-nat of Trousseau—the only Trousseau Pet-Nat in the world! As the oldest method of sparkling winemaking, this style is considerably unique. This wine was harvested, disgorged, and bottled early all to retain freshness and life with the bubbles created naturally in the bottle.
Taille Aux Loups, Montlouis-sur-Loire Petillant Triple Zero NVRegular price $38.00 Save $-38.00
Variety: Chenin Blanc
Jacky Blot of Domaine de la Taille aux Loups is a rising star in the French and international wine scene. He produces his wine with true vision and no sacrifice, two attributes rarely seen in the commercial wine world today. While working as a wine broker in the Loire Valley, Blot came into contact with a winemaking family no longer capable of caring for their land. Believing the site needed to be respected and shown to the world, his inner voice urged him out of his office and into the vineyards. From this beginning, in 1989 he has since expanded his lands to include parcels in Vouvray, Montlouis, and Bourgueil. Though just across the river from Vouvray, Montlouis does not have the strong market grip of its neighbor. However, its vineyards and age of vines can produce wines that outshine just about anything.
Jacky Blot takes his exemplary winemaking skill and applies it to a pet-nat. The Chenin comes from 40+ year old vines. It’s aged on its lees for 24 months for more aroma and nuance and aged in used barrels. The fermentation process is one long one. Triple Zero refers to the three “Zeros,” zero chaptalization, zero liqueur de tirage, and zero dosage, an ode to less intervention.
Zanotto, Rosso Col Fondo 2019Regular price $27.00 Save $-27.00
Varieties: Marzemino and Cabernet Sauvignon
Riccardo Zanotto is not just a winemaker, but a person who thrives on the stories of the past, and the experiences of tasting the wine as you drink. He makes a conscious choice not to own his own vineyards in Veneto, but rather entrusts the vine growing to others who know best. His project is a multitude of sparkling wines from the Veneto region, white and red, classic and not, in natural ways that allow the grapes to shine and the drinker to enjoy.
While Rosso Col Fondo is an ancestral method sparkling red, it does undergo two fermentations, the first in the tank, and the second in the bottle. Here ”Col Fondo” means “the bottom,” but just means the a lightly sparkling wine that’s been aged on its lees. Using mostly the Marzemino grape that brings acidity, and Cabernet Sauvignon, which brings structure, this juicy sparkling red aims to please.
