Chateau Giscours has a long and varied history. The first reference to the domain was contained in a deed dating back to 1330 and confirms the sale of the Estate for 1,000 Pounds. Records of Giscours' vineyards go back to 1552. Very early on, the estate established itself as a property excelling in the creation of fine wines. About a century later, Giscours charmed the palate of the "Roi Soleil" Louis the 14th, who is said to have had a particular inclination for the wine. Subsequent owners came and went. In 1995 the estate was acquired by Eric Albada Jelgersma who immediately began to invest heavily in vineyard and cellar. He also put together a winemaking team who has helped to make this Estate the famous great growth. Today Giscours is run by Dutch manager Alexander Van Beek. 

The 2018 vintage has been described as 'a double-edged victory.' The chateau succeeded in produced one of its best wines in the history of their estate, however the owner of the property, Eric Albada Jelgersma passed away this same year. Director Alexander van Beek loves the vintage for its vibrancy saying, “2018 is an act of balance. It is bold, energetic and refined.” This wine undergoes traditional aging in new oak barrels (30 %) for 15-18 months.

We do our best to have all orders placed BEFORE NOON delivered SAME DAY. All orders placed after noon, will be delivered the next day. Cincinnati orders over $150 in certain areas will receive FREE DELIVERY. Delivery distances defined by zip codes. See delivery zones below.

WINE SHIPPING VIA COMMON CARRIER

Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you. 


All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any  other requests. 


The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout. 

All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required.  The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
