Domaine du Bagnol, Cassis Blanc 2019
Regular price $36.00 Save $-36.00Variety: Marsanne, Clairette, & Ugni Blanc
One of the first French appellations on the map was Cassis; established in 1936, the same year the AOC system was put into place. There have been vines planted in this area since the 12th century! Cassis is right on the coast line, sandwiched between Palette and Bandol; in fact, the domain sits just 200 meters from the coastline. Bagnol does have a charming history about it which suits the magic you find in this Provencal fishing village. It was Cassis local, Jean-Louis Genovesi and his son, who rescued this domain after it was essentially abandoned for a few vintages after its former owner, Madame Lefevre, had passed. The wines are currently just as delicious as ever in all their Mediterranean glory.
This blend of traditional Provencal white varieties is rich and fruity with an elegant mist of ocean spray. Naturally it’s a fine pairing for seafood as the domain is a stone’s throw from the coast. It is aged in steel with a few months on its lees. This wine could age well if left in the cellar, though it is always consumed by locals immediately after release.
