The Bianco family has quite a family history rooted in both Verduno in Barolo as well as Barbaresco. This family project is located in the Verduno commune of Barolo which is the northernmost part of Barolo known for its elegance. While they specialize in the classics of Piedmont, they have a soft spot for the specialty of Verduno, the light, pale and spicy Pelaverga. The winemaking marries modern and traditional together making for a winery that’s still under the radar.
Pelaverga has been grown in Verduno since the 1600s, though it's had a slight resurgence in the last 15-20 years. Castello di Verduno loved the variety so much that they were the first to planted a vineyard that grew this variety alone. While the wine is pale in color and delicate in flavor, its signature is its spicy undertone.
