The name reflects the history; Billecart-Salmon was born of a marriage and remains a family endeavor to this day. In 1818, Nicolas François Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon were married. They soon established an estate in their hometown of Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and began producing wines with the valuable input of Elisabeth's brother, Louis Salmon. From the beginning, a commitment to quality was central to the estate's mission.
In recent years, Billecart-Salmon has re-committed to ancestral methods of farming and vineyard stewardship, using horses, sheep, and goats for vineyard management in the Clos Saint-Hilaire, a single hectare (around 2.5 acres) of Pinot Noir vines. These efforts are part of the house’s philosophy of expressing terroir as transparently as possible. With over 200 hectares of estate and partner vineyards, and a labyrinth of chalk cellars, Billecart-Salmon is an enduring name in Champagne.
The Cuvée Elisabeth Salmon Rosé 2012 is crafted from 55% Chardonnay and 45% Pinot Noir, sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs and Montagne de Reims. A small portion of the Pinot Noir (under 10%) is vinified as red wine from old vines in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ to give the rosé its color and complexity. About 2.9% of the base wines are vinified in oak, adding depth and rounding out the acidity. The wine spends 115 months on the lees before disgorgement.
This prestige cuvée is named after Elisabeth Salmon, one of the co-founders of the estate.

WINE SHIPPING WITHIN THE UNITED STATES
Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.
All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any other requests.
The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout.
All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required. The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
