François-Xavier Daure (F.X.) may be one of those people who are actually BORN FOR THIS. Not only did he grow up in Espira de L'Agly, where he makes Lampyres, but he's been involved in the viticulture of the appellation since a wee child. Often joking that he was born on a tractor, farming is the key to winemaking according to F.X. Espira de L'Agly sits at the eastern end of the Agly Valley, about 20 km from the Mediterranean coast. FX may have come from Espira de L'Agly, but he had to go away to truly learn to be a vigneron as all the grapes his family grew went to the local cooperative.

In 2008 FX returned to the Roussilon and brought all he learned about organic farming and low-intervention winemaking with him. His family's harvest was still dedicated to the cooperative, so he farmed five additional hectares to begin his own label. His neighbors saw him out in the fields in the early hours of the morning. When it was dark he'd wear a headlamp to guide his way and his neighbors jested that he looked like a firefly, or in French, lampyre. So when FX needed a name for his domaine, he remembered the firefly and Domaine Lampyres was founded.

The syrah and Muscat Petits Grains are co-harvested and co-fermented The juices are fermented together in whole clusters for five days in fiberglass tanks after which they are pressed off and returned to fiberglass to finish fermentation. On day 5 the wines are combined and fermentation is finished in amphora. After undergoing malolactic fermentation, the wine is transferred to stainless steel for a short aging period. The final product is bottled unfined and unfiltered with an SO2 addition of 10 ppm.

We do our best to have all orders placed BEFORE NOON delivered SAME DAY. All orders placed after noon, will be delivered the next day. Cincinnati orders over $150 in certain areas will receive FREE DELIVERY. Delivery distances defined by zip codes. See delivery zones below.

WINE SHIPPING VIA COMMON CARRIER

Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you. 


All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any  other requests. 


The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout. 

All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required.  The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
