Since its founding in 1818, the Billecart-Salmon Champagne house has been a family-owned estate dedicated to crafting wines of elegance, balance, and precision. Created through the marriage of Nicolas François Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon, the domaine is based in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ and has been guided for generations by a deep respect for tradition and terroir. Elisabeth’s brother, Louis Salmon, played an important role as the estate’s first chief winemaker and helped define the style that the house is known for today.
Billecart-Salmon continues to combine artisanal expertise with sustainable vineyard practices. In certain plots, such as the historic Clos Saint-Hilaire, a single hectare of Pinot Noir, the team uses horses, sheep, and goats for natural vineyard maintenance. This approach reflects the estate’s dedication to biodiversity and soil health. With access to over 200 hectares of estate and partner vineyards, along with a network of traditional chalk cellars, the house produces Champagnes celebrated worldwide for their precision and consistency.
The Brut Réserve NV is a carefully balanced blend of 28% Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and Grande Vallée de la Marne, 29% Chardonnay from selected parcels in the Marne, and 43% Pinot Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne and the southern slopes of Épernay. Multiple vintages are used to achieve both freshness and depth. Fermentation takes place entirely in stainless steel tanks, and full malolactic fermentation is carried out to enhance smoothness and texture. The wine then rests for approximately 50 months on the lees, developing elegance, complexity, and refined balance.

WINE SHIPPING WITHIN THE UNITED STATES
Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.
All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any other requests.
The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout.
All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required. The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
