Laurent Vaillé is one of those winemakers that only comes around once in a lifetime. Going against what surely seems like all the odds, he achieved his dream. Starting his wine career under some of the greats like that of Gerard Chave and Eloi Durrbach of Trevallon, he purchased some land in the appellation of l’Herault in 1989 with absolutely nothing. This area is likened to the Wild, Wild West of the wine world. The poor soil needed to be bulldozed and worked properly, but it proved to be such exceptional conditions for growing Syrah, Mourvedre, and Roussanne which he relied so heavily for his blends. He produced some of the greatest wines in the region, some even calling him the “Mozart of wine.” He passed in 2021; the world is unsure of what is to become of his wines.

Like the rest of southern France, the red wines of L’Herault are common blends of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre. Rather than being required to adhere to the AOP regulations, the L’Herault VDP has more lenient requirements, including use of international varieties. The 2014 was another incredible vintage from this producer that makes consistently great wines.

We do our best to have all orders placed BEFORE NOON delivered SAME DAY. All orders placed after noon, will be delivered the next day. Cincinnati orders over $150 in certain areas will receive FREE DELIVERY. Delivery distances defined by zip codes. See delivery zones below.

WINE SHIPPING VIA COMMON CARRIER

Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you. 


All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any  other requests. 


The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout. 

All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required.  The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
