Pares Balta has been a family owned winery since 1790 in one form or another. However the tiny revolutions that made it what it is today began in the early 20th century.
Joan Cusine Hill was the patriarch who took his love of vine cultivation to another level and in the process, set his family up for a strong generational pattern of innovation and attention to detail in winemaking. He oversaw the building of the estate’s barrel room and famed Cava cellar, holding a constant 15 degrees C by being 10 meters underground since the early 20th century. That was the first revolution.
The second revolution was when Joan’s son, Joan took over in the 80’s. His brother Josep soon joined and the brothers’ wives Elena Jiménez and Marta Casas brought their winemaking expertise to this iteration of generational revolution. This time the revolution was biodynamic and low-intervention. It also included expansion to other appellations: Priorat, Ribera del Duero and Dominio Romano. They planted garnatxa and other native grapes long neglected.
Now truly a family operation, Pares Balta is devoted to the health of the soil, the health of the vines, the health of the wines in the bottle and the health of their expanding family and estate.
'Indigena' is made from a native Penedes garnacha varietal. Sourced from young vines planted at 615 meters at the Les Torres estate in the mountains of Pontons, the juice is fermented for 4 weeks at 20ºC in stainless steel tanks. The must is pumped over 3 times daily. Aging occurs in new and 2nd use French oak barrels.

We do our best to have all orders placed BEFORE NOON delivered SAME DAY. All orders placed after noon, will be delivered the next day. Cincinnati orders over $150 in certain areas will receive FREE DELIVERY. Delivery distances defined by zip codes. See delivery zones below.

WINE SHIPPING VIA COMMON CARRIER
Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.
All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any other requests.
The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout.
All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required. The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
