Emidio Pepe founded his winery in 1964, having learned winemaking at the side of his father and grandfather, who had already been tending vines and making wine at Casa Pepe as far back as 1889. From the very beginning, Emidio held a belief that few others shared—that the indigenous grapes of Abruzzo, particularly Trebbiano and Montepulciano, were capable of greatness. Not just rustic charm or local identity, but true longevity and complexity, worthy of aging and international recognition.
Rather than chase trends or modern interventions, he embraced a fiercely traditional, hands-on approach. Vines are farmed biodynamically, grapes are crushed by foot, and every bottle is hand-decanted from demijohn before release. Nothing is rushed; there is no compromise. In a world that often measures progress by speed and efficiency, Emidio Pepe built a legacy on patience, intuition, and an unshakable respect for the land.
This wine is a testament to Emidio Pepe’s decades-long belief in the nobility of Trebbiano—a grape often overlooked until he proved its capacity to age and evolve with dignity. Crafted entirely by hand, from foot-stomping to bottling, it reflects a commitment to tradition rarely found today.

WINE SHIPPING WITHIN THE UNITED STATES
Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.
All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any other requests.
The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout.
All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required. The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
