Rene Barbier is not only among the world's most talented winemakers, but many credit him to bringing the region of Priorat back to life. Due to the phylloxera breakout during the 19th century, a decline in tourists, and a single lane road connecting Priorat to anywhere at all. It was a group of winemakers that brought Priorat back to life, though it was no doubt Rene was the leader. He formed a co-op and released his first wine in 1991, a wine that Robert Parker rated 100 points without second thought. While Priorat has obvious potential, the vines growing from these steep vineyards that can only be worked by hand are not for the faint of heart. Thank you to Rene, Priorat is now a firm place on the world wine map.

This wine has achieved international recognition. In fact, it is the only wine to have received the prestigious qualification "Vi de Finca," tracing the fruit back to the Clos Mogador vineyard site. It blends the traditional Garnacha and Carignan with the international Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon, which do so well in the soils of Priorat. The wine spends one year in new French oak.
