Founded in 1818 through the marriage of Nicolas François Billecart and Elisabeth Salmon, the Billecart-Salmon estate has remained a proud family-owned Champagne house for over two centuries. From its home in Mareuil-sur-Aÿ, the domaine has built a reputation for precision, elegance, and respect for the land — values that were established early on by Louis Salmon, Elisabeth’s brother and the estate’s first chief winemaker.
Today, Billecart-Salmon combines time-honored traditions with thoughtful, sustainable farming practices. In vineyards such as Clos Saint-Hilaire, a single hectare of Pinot Noir, the team employs horses, sheep, and goats for natural vineyard management, a reflection of their ongoing commitment to preserving the terroir.
The 2009 Cuvée Louis Salmon Brut Blanc de Blancs is crafted exclusively from Chardonnay sourced from Grand Cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs, including parcels in Chouilly, Mesnil-sur-Oger, and Cramant. Around 17% of the base wines are aged in oak barrels, lending subtle complexity and texture, while the remainder is fermented in stainless steel to maintain freshness and purity. After vinification, the wine matures for approximately 12 years on the lees, resulting in a refined balance of creaminess, tension, and minerality.
This cuvée is named in honor of Louis Salmon, whose vision and dedication helped lay the foundation for Billecart-Salmon’s enduring excellence.

WINE SHIPPING WITHIN THE UNITED STATES
Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.
All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any other requests.
The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout.
All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required. The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
