Mas de Daumas Gassac, Rouge 2022
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon and a blend of several other varieties
Véronique and Aimé Guibert purchased this property back in 1970 in the south of France in the Languedoc region. While they didn’t have any intention to plant vines when they bought the property, their love for the beauty of the Gassac Valley continued to grow. After a Bordeaux specialist visited the property, it became clear that Cabernet Sauvignon would thrive in the e soils there. Cuttings were brought from the village of Margaux in Bordeaux and planted in the soils that had never been affected by chemical fertilizers. This valley was always worked by hand as this is traditional to the region.
While Cabernet Sauvignon is the main variety, there are also 20 other varieties blended in. This wine has been suggested as “The Château Lafite of the Languedoc." “Gassac” is known as the Guibert family’s Grand Cru vineyard where they continue to farm traditionally as it has been for 1000 years.
