Nestled on the left bank of Bordeaux in the prestigious Saint-Julien appellation, Château Ducru-Beaucaillou owes its name to the large pebbles, or beaux cailloux, scattered throughout its vineyards. These gravelly soils, shaped by the Gironde estuary, are a hallmark of this region and contribute to the estate's ability to craft wines of remarkable finesse and elegance.
The château, with its origins dating back to the 18th century, presides over 75 hectares of vineyards planted predominantly with Cabernet Sauvignon (70%) and Merlot (30%). The average vine age is approximately 30 years, ensuring a balance of youthful vibrancy and deep-rooted complexity in its wines.
Renowned wine writer Jay McInerney once observed, "Ducru has always been a wine of finesse rather than sheer brute power, a kind of Burgundian Bordeaux." This signature style is carried through not only in its grand vin but also in its approachable sibling, Le Petit Ducru de Beaucaillou.
Le Petit Ducru de Beaucaillou is considered the third wine of the estate, crafted to embody the same quality and precision as its more illustrious counterparts while offering a more accessible, everyday drinking experience. First produced in 2019, it has its origins in the former Château Lalande-Borie, and is designed as a wine to be shared around the table for Sunday suppers and joyous gatherings.
The wine is predominantly Merlot, complemented by 18% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Petit Verdot. The wine is aged for 12 months in oak barrels, with 30% being new oak, adding structure and a subtle, polished complexity to its profile. While relatively young in the Château’s storied history, Le Petit Ducru continues to garner admiration for its harmonious balance of richness and approachability, making it a perfect expression of Saint-Julien's storied terroir.

We do our best to have all orders placed BEFORE NOON delivered SAME DAY. All orders placed after noon, will be delivered the next day. Cincinnati orders over $150 in certain areas will receive FREE DELIVERY. Delivery distances defined by zip codes. See delivery zones below.

WINE SHIPPING VIA COMMON CARRIER
Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.
All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any other requests.
The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout.
All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required. The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
