Podere Le Boncie is a small, biodynamic estate in the heart of Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southernmost part of Chianti Classico. It is run by Giovanna Morganti, a passionate and thoughtful winemaker whose work has helped redefine what Chianti can be. Trained in oenology and deeply influenced by her father, a pioneer in the revival of traditional Tuscan grape varieties, Giovanna farms just three hectares of vines with an emphasis on native varieties like Sangiovese, Mammolo, and Foglia Tonda. Her approach is minimal-intervention in both vineyard and cellar, focusing on biodiversity, low yields, and natural fermentations. Le Boncie’s wines, especially the flagship Le Trame, are admired for their purity, integrity, and their ability to express the nuances of their limestone-clay soils and hillside terroir.
The beauty of Sangiovese is revealed here in its most pure form, unencumbered by manipulation of the wine during vinification and élevage and without exposure to new oak. The vineyard lies at an altitude of 300-350 meters; the average vine age is 15 years. The essential character of this wine can best be described as “ferociously elegant”. But, what appears to be an oxymoron is, in fact, the reality. There is a gracefulness to this wine, an impeccable balance, that belies the intense concentration reflected in its vigorous, ripe tannins. Annual production is approximately 1,000 cases; we import between 25% to 30% of that amount for the US market.

WINE SHIPPING WITHIN THE UNITED STATES
Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.
All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any other requests.
The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout.
All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required. The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
