Mas de Daumas Gassac, Blanc 2023
Variety: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc, Petit Manseng, Viognier and rare varieties.
Véronique and Aimé Guibert purchased this property in the Languedoc, a wine growing region in the south of France back in 1970. While they didn’t have any intention to plant vines when they bought the property, their love for the beauty of the Gassac Valley continued to grow as did their curiosity towards wine cultivation. After a Bordeaux specialist visited the property, it became clear that Cabernet Sauvignon would thrive in the soils there and thus it began. Cuttings were brought from the village of Margaux in Bordeaux and planted in a valley whose soils had never seen chemical fertilizers and always worked by hand. And as traditional to the region the Guiberts continue the practices to this day.
Vines averaging about 36 years old are hand picked and macerated on skins for 5-7 days. Aged for four months in stainless steel.
