Podere Le Boncie is a small, biodynamic estate in the heart of Castelnuovo Berardenga, in the southernmost part of Chianti Classico. It is run by Giovanna Morganti, a passionate and thoughtful winemaker whose work has helped redefine what Chianti can be. Trained in oenology and deeply influenced by her father, a pioneer in the revival of traditional Tuscan grape varieties, Giovanna farms just three hectares of vines with an emphasis on native varieties like Sangiovese, Mammolo, and Foglia Tonda. Her approach is minimal-intervention in both vineyard and cellar, focusing on biodiversity, low yields, and natural fermentations. Le Boncie’s wines, especially the flagship Le Trame, are admired for their purity, integrity, and their ability to express the nuances of their limestone-clay soils and hillside terroir.
The “second wine” of the estate, sold only at the cellar since 1990 but now made from a newly acquired parcel with very rocky limestone soils in Castelnuovo Berardenga just outside the Chianti Classico zone. Giovanna supplements it with certain vats of the first wine, Le Trame, that don’t make the cut, often a significant proportion. Aged for one year in wood vats (5-30 hl) and bottled in the spring. The cuvée name refers to several numerlogical coincidences, including the five grapes of the estate (Sangiovese, Caniolo, Colorino, Mammolo, Fogliatonda), the five leaves and flowers a grape vine has per bunch, and their home address.

WINE SHIPPING WITHIN THE UNITED STATES
Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.
All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any other requests.
The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout.
All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required. The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
