Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon & Syrah
Picasso compatriot and avowed lover of all things beautiful, bon vivant René Dürrbach was naturally drawn into the wine movement of the 1970s with his family property in southern France. Faithful to the movement’s credo of simplicity, he focused purely on the quality of the fruit, farming 20 hectares in total with zero chemicals or pesticides. Many consider this one of the premium Provençal red wines. Blending equal parts Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, this wine does not incorporate typical regional varietals. René stubbornly stuck to his vision, caring little for the old guard laws that govern the wine industry. He set out, from the very beginning, to make world-class wine on his own terms. The AOC has since downgraded the classifications, but René changed nothing. His maverick wines are more sought after today than ever before. He is truly one of the great French visionaries, both in the cellar and in the vineyard.
