Husband and wife team Cameron and Marlen Porter strive to “amplify the voice of site”, which is carried out through noninterventionist winemaking techniques: organic farming, native yeasts, neutral vessels for ageing. The site in question, a new addition to their lineup, is the C5 Vineyard, planted on a mesa in Santa Ynez and reputed for noteworthy Tempranillo. The wine is inspired by Spanish classics of the same variety – think Rioja or Ribera del Duero -yet retains its modern Cali zip.

This wine is a collaboration of Eric Railsback, Dustin Wilson and Justin Willet, all big names in the international wine scene. Lieu Dit, as a word, translates to "a small geographical area bearing a traditional name. The name usually refers to some characteristic of the place, its former use, a past event, etc." This concept is the whole idea of these wines from the New World. This Cabernet Franc is entirely sourced from Star Lane Vineyard in Santa Ynez, and if blind-tasted, it would confuse many with the wines coming from the home of Cabernet Franc, Loire Valley.

Eric Railsback is one half of a dynamic duo of long-time friends who decided in 2011 to start a winery devoted to the indigenous grapes of the Loire Valley which are now grown successfully in the Santa Barbara area. Foodies will recognize Eric as the guy who ran Gordon Ramsey’s wine program at LA’s Osteria Mozza, led a team of somms at Michael Mina’s RN74 in San Francisco, and launched Les Marchands Wine Bar & Merchant in Santa Barbara. A native of Santa Barbara, Justin Willett pursued his passion for making wine right after college. He is the owner and winemaker of Tyler Winery, and also consults with a start-up in Santa Rita Hills called Wenzlau Vineyard.
