Olio Extra Vergine d’Oliva
Many of the same rules apply: producer, producer, producer. Our olive oil offers made by beautiful makers in Italy and Spain who take the same care with their oils as they take with their rockstar wines.
Finding the olive oil to suit your taste and culinary explorations can be difficult; particularly when there’s an endless range of mass-produced and commercial styles available. There is good and then, there is great olive oil. There is no doubt you can decipher the expression of great olive oil when you’ve tasted it. Here are some small production oils from wine growers we really love.

Andrea Cortonesi is the identity behind the Uccelliera wines. The story behind the estate deserves further attention. It begins with the Uccelliara wines as part of the Ciacci Piccolomoni estate, which is also located in Montalcino. After perfecting his technique as the cellar master at Ciacci, Andrea made the natural move to purchase the Uccelliara property in order to forge his own path. His first vintage was a small, but mighty 500 bottles in 1991. Then he grew. His vines are tucked away in the hills of Castelnuovo dell’Abate in Montalcino. Andrea does not pull any shortcuts; all vineyard work is done by hand only and the wines are among the cult classics of Tuscany.
The Uccelliera Olive Oil comes from their estate olive groves in Castelnuovo dell'Abate in the Montalcino region, just as their vineyards do. This is excellent poured over grilled or poached fish, and versatile poured over other warm dishes.
Ca' La Bionda Olio Extra Vergine di Oliva - 2 Liter CanRegular price $132.00 Save $-132.00
There are many regions in Italy that show the detrimental hand of western trends. Amarone is, and should be, one of the great wines of Italy. However, finding one that still tastes genuinely Italian can be tricky. Ca’La Bionda is located in the historic “classic” zone of the Valpolicella region. Founded in 1902, the family’s focus has always been on the grapes and the vineyard work. They presently cultivate 25 hectares. Alessandro Castellani is the current, fourth-generation winemaker. His wines are held in six-foot-tall oak casks until ready to drink. Certain wines are aged longer than others. But at every step of the way, attention is given to tradition, as opposed to modern, quick winemaking. Alessandro’s wines rarely receive much mainstream press, which is fine by him.
