Based in Marsannay-la-Côte, with terroirs spanning from the north of the Côte de Nuits to the top of the Côte de Beaune in Savigny-les-Beaune, Bruno Clair is a family affair! While the Clair family has been involved in Burgundy wine making since the early 19th century, the current iteration began in 1919 sparked by Bruno’s grandfather Joseph with his move to Marsannay. Throughout the 20th century the domaine acquired more vineyards throughout the Côte d’Or, all while the family grew and more sons, daughters, nieces and nephews got involved.
In 1985 the family tension broke and a clan-wide dispute led to the land being divided amongst the heirs to avoid any further disputes. Many of the family entrusted their plots to Bruno’s careful hand and plow.
From 1986 onward, the Bruno Clair estate comprised 17 hectares (now more than 24 hectares) spread over the villages of Marsannay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Morey-Saint-Denis, Vosne-Romanée and Savigny-Les-Beaune. Eldest son Edouard joined the estate in 2010 and younger siblings Margaux and Arthur in 2018. Family affair indeed!
In the early 90’s DBC made a move towards low intervention farming, forgoing weed killers and intensive row plowing in favor of compost mulching, cover crops and precise pruning techniques. Careful fruit selection has always been a hallmark of the Clair estate, established by Joseph. That philosophy has been honed and focused under the leadership of Bruno Clair and that shines through in each bottle.

We do our best to have all orders placed BEFORE NOON delivered SAME DAY. All orders placed after noon, will be delivered the next day. Cincinnati orders over $150 in certain areas will receive FREE DELIVERY. Delivery distances defined by zip codes. See delivery zones below.

WINE SHIPPING VIA COMMON CARRIER
Hart & Cru is happy to engage the services of a common carrier on behalf of you/the customer. However, upon purchase, ownership of and title to all alcoholic beverages passes from Hart & Cru to you/the buyer in the State of Ohio. In the case of shipments outside of Ohio, the sole responsibility for complying with local regulations lies with the customer. By placing an order on this site and selecting shipping, you authorize Hart & Cru to act on your behalf to engage a common carrier to deliver your order to you.
All ‘Ground Shipping’ orders placed after 12pm on Wednesday will be shipped on Monday the following week in order to avoid bottles being held in non-temperature controlled facilities over the weekend. Orders placed before noon with 2-Day Air selected will be shipped the same day or on the date requested. We are happy to store your order for you until you are able to receive delivery. Please include note specifying desired ship date or reach out to us at thecru@hartandcru.com for any other requests.
The cost of shipping varies depending on which shipping option the buyer selects, as well as destination and number of bottles. The appropriate shipping rates will be calculated at checkout.
All orders will be sent with a 21+ signature as is legally required. The carrier delivering your order will be unable to leave the package on your front door, back porch, etc. without sign-off. Please ensure someone is home to receive. In the event that a shipment cannot be delivered due to an incorrect address provided by the purchaser, or after three delivery attempts by the carrier, Hart & Cru reserves the right to charge the purchaser the applicable carrier fee for rerouting to an alternative address or re-shipping to the same address.
