Marcel Deiss, Alsace Complantation 2020Regular price $28.00 Save $-28.00
Variety: Pinot Blanc, Riesling, Auxerrois, Muscat Blanc, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir and Friends
In the village of Bergheim in Alsace is where the Deiss domaine lies. Jean-Michel Deiss inherited the Schoenenbourg vineyard, which was planted to several grape varieties instead of one. Using this to his advantage, he sought to vinify his wines as blends, going against the norm of the region at the time. Taking the blending style in his stride, every one of his top vineyards were then planted to this style of coplanting. The Deiss expression of terroir is unparalleled in the region when reinforced with the usage of biodynamic farming and natural winemaking. Mathieu has now joined his father. They are not only leaders in the region, but do not conform to trends.
This is a serious throwback to the olden days of “coplanting” several varieties in the same vineyard. This comes from younger vine parcels in Bergheim of coplanting. The wine ages in steel for twelve months before release.

Variety: Gruner Veltliner, Welschreisling, Muscat Blanc
Meinklang has taken the wine world by storm in the last few years due to the family's passion for making diverse products from the estate. Farming is at the core, with full bio-dynamic practices in place. The family has a full herd of Angus and Aubrac cattle, plus sheep. The farm believes in a full circle of life within the vineyards and farmland. The family has even achieved Demeter certification, one of the most difficult biodynamic certifications. The estate is located in the middle of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of National Park Neusiedlersee in Austria, just on the border of Hungary. The insane number of different wine labels produced shows the passion for creating wine with character and personality, with over 20 labels in production.
This may be considered Meinklang's house white wine. The three grape varieties each lend something unique to this blend—acidity, aromatics, weight, and texture. This is the perfect spring white wine due to its light body, its racy lean fruit, and ageing in steel tank to keep this wine fresh.
