Variety: Chasselas

When an estate is founded in 1673 you can hypothesize about the history that lives on in each bottle. This history plays a major role in farming because each new generation carries on techniques taught from their forefathers. With this being said, consider the region of Alsace switched its alliance multiple times between France and Germany during the World Wars. Many experts would consider the wines of Jean Boxler, the current owner and winemaker, to be some of the best in the world. For this reason, the small 5,200 case winery produces some of the most collectible items out of Alsace. The wines still bear to this day the same label designed by a Boxler cousin dating back to 1946.

Chasselas is a grape variety originally from Switzerland just across the border. Though it is usually blended in the region of Alsace, Boxler sees the full potential as a single variety wine. The vines are 45 years in age and wine is aged in large foudre barrels.
