Coming from Dresden and Baden respectively, the two met in Beaune, Burgundy where they spent time combined working under de Montille, Pierre Morey, Leflaive, etc. Wasenhaus, named for the farmhouse in which Christophe's family grew up, is a new project starting in just 2018. As such, the wines represent an under the radar part of Germany known as Baden in the southwest, which is actually a fairly short two hour drive to Burgundy. The project has several focuses for their wines; the estate wines which are basic by default, though anything but, the 'soil-level' wines and then the single vineyard wines. Farming is organic with biodynamic practices interspersed; winemaking is low-intervention. Keep an eye on this minuscule new German producer as they are clearly just getting started. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eWhile this may be entry level wine by default, it is anything but. This Pinot Blanc (its French name for Wesisburgunder) comes from loess-based plots around Staufen.
