Snowden Vineyards, Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon The Ranch 2017Regular price $60.00 Save $-60.00
Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot
Snowden Vineyards comes from a legendary winemaking family steeped in their Napa roots. In the realm of Napa winemaking, four generations deep is difficult to come by. “The Ranch” as the family calls it, boasted acres of stone fruits, walnuts, and vines. In 1962, the family realized the future was in wine, not their fruit and nuts. With a decisive pivot during the era of Napa’s international recognition, Cabernet Sauvignon was planted on their property near St. Helena and Rutherford. For years, the fruit went to other wineries like Caymus, Silver Oak, and Frank Family. The family pivoted again by planting more vines and began bottling under their own label. Diana Snowden took over winemaking duties in 2005 while she balances her enologist duties at Domaine Dujac in Burgundy alongside husband Jereny Seysses.
This wine is a summary of “The Ranch” bringing together fruit from both the highest and the lowest vineyards, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot respectively. The wine is aged in French oak barrels, half of which is new and the other used. It’s aged in barrel for 17 months before its release. This is the perfect introductory wine to get acquainted with the style of Snowden.
