The story behind Sesti is a remarkable one, as the founding family are first generation winemakers with no roots in winemaking. Giugi Sesti and his wife, Sarah, both had interests outside of the wine world, though the hills of Tuscany inevitably called their names. There they purchased an abandoned site including the property and castle of Argiano. Before Giugi became interested in wine, he had studying astronomy, which he was later able to apply to his practice of biodynamic farming where the lunar calendar was used. Sesti used a natural form of farming from the get-go. The concept of low-intervention winemaking allowed the elegance of their wines to shine. Elisa drives the next generation of winemaking, keeping the Sesti approach traditional and focused as ever.
This Rosso undergoes all the same practices as its Brunello counterpart, but timing is essential in the winemaking. The vines are 15 years old and aging takes place for 18 months in oak, then followed by another two months in bottle before ready.
