Remi Jobard, "Vieilles Vignes" Bourgogne Cote d'Or Blanc 2019Regular price $41.00 Save $-41.00
This property Valerie and I visited for the first time in 2010 and we have been drinking the wines ever since. The Jobard name is a powerful one in Meursault, and Remi took full control of this estate in 1996 from his father. When this transition took place, he found himself taking over Meursault and Puligny-based Bourgogne Blancs. The domaine has not used herbicides or pesticides since 1994; they are certified organic. Tasting these wines are a "sensual tour of rock and vine."
This Chardonnay comes from six parcels of 40-year-old vines in the village of Meursault, reinstating the “old vines” in the name of this bottle. In other words, you could call this a “baby Meursault.” This wine is aged in half barrique and half older foudre; a small portion of the barrique is new. The wine goes on to age in tank for six months before being bottled.
