Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
The Priest Ranch property was established in 1869 by way of a James Joshua Priest prospecting during the Gold Rush. The historic estate was created in Saint Helena, one of the many appellations within Napa Valley. Fast forward to 2004; the Priest Ranch property combined forces with Elder Valley to become the Somerston property, which is the estate’s present day situation. The property itself is actually over 1600 acres, where grown are many of the classic California varieties, both white and red. The estate even bottles their own olive oil.
This Napa Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from multiple blocks across the Somerston estate. They cleverly want to display the differences in elevation that the estate encompasses, from 850 to 1600 feet above sea level. The wine is aged for twenty months in French oak barrels, 40% of which is new oak. This is an excellent bottle to keep in the cedar for a few more years.
