Pax Mahle Wines, Syrah Armagh Vineyard Sonoma Coast 2018Regular price $60.00 Save $-60.00
Pax and Pam Mahle had moved to California in pursuit of wine careers. After working behind the wine scene, Pax realized he needed to make a name for himself, and so started Pax Wines in 2000. Together, they opted to go down a different winemaking path as they made efforts of “untapping potential” in their beloved Syrah. Though his success began with big rich Syrahs, an even more interesting turn began with his exploration of cooler coastal areas of Sonoma and fresher, more elegant styles of Syrah. In his continuation of his homage to the Old World, he also grows Chenin Blanc and Gamay.
2018 was a warm growing season, though this site communicates clearly with its cool climate. Armagh Vineyard hails from one of the coldest areas in the Petaluma Gap with vines showing their age as they continue to yield low amounts. This is a lower alcohol Syrah made into just 176 cases. It undergoes all whole cluster fermentation, ageing for ten months in neutral French oak.
