It all began in the late 17th century with the marriage of Étienne de Lafon and the owner of Domaine Rochet. A member of Parliament from the Gironde, Lafon planted the estate’s first vines. The property remained in the Lafon family until the 1880s. Château Lafon-Rochet was classified as a Fourth Growth in the 1855 Universal Exhibition in Paris.
