Variety: Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc
The Favia family were noted as the first Italian immigrant family to settle in Napa, navigating from Genoa around 150 years ago. The Carbone name began with commercial vegetable gardens in Contra Costa and Napa County. In 1870, about 125 acres were purchased in Coombsville, eventually called Antonio Carbone Wine Cellar. The Italianate stone structure still stands. The Favia name did not come about until 2003 when Annie Favia and Andy Erickson began a collaboration, both with distinguished resumes to their names. The Favia-Erickson collaboration approaches the estate and vines in a holistic sense, restoring local ecology with native plants and the like. Though the Favia name is still young, the mindset is to continue a legacy existing since the 19th century.
The Carbone line is an ode to the historic estate with a mission to continue the story and care of the restored property. The Carbone Red is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc that sees a little less oak and is meant to be drunk on release.
