Variety: Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc & Muller Thurgau
The region of Baden has been known for some time for its wine that are quite ripe in style and heavily oaked; however the couple behind Enderle & Moll have certainly challenged this style. The famous wine writer Jancis Robinson has even called out this couple as being "cult" status. The vines, which focus on Pinot Noir, are the oldest in Baden. As the couple are specialists of Pinot Noir, by default they know skin contact, and subsequently orange wine (long before it came back into vogue). They were the first in the region to request used barrels for their wine, going very much against the norm. Farming is done biodynamically.
Pinot Blanc and Pinot Gris come together hailing from vines about 45 years in age, with the aromatic Muller Thurgau making up the rest of the blend. The fruit spends five days on the skins. This is simply one of the most elegant and sought after orange wines around.
