Variety: Mourvèdre, Grenache, and Cinsault
Georges Delille founded Domaine Terrebrune in 1963, a few years after the AOC of Bandol was founded in 1941. The noble variety of Mourvedre was making its comeback and winemakers were uprooting vines and replanting left and right. Georges even followed some advice from Domaine Tempier patriarch, Lucien Peyraud. In 1980, Georges’ son Reynauld joined him in the winemaking; they bottled their first vintage together shortly after. Limestone is of utmost importance in the thirty hectares of the Terrebrune vines with plenty of variation from site to site. Domaine Terrebrune is named in honor of the healthy brown soils that the family farms strictly organically.
The classic Provencal varieties come together in a blend of the noble Mourvedre, Grenache, and Cinsault. The vines are about 20 years old with various types of limestone and clay. The wine ages for 18 months in oak foudres with the ability to age effortlessly for 30 years.
