Finca Torremilanos sets itself apart drastically from other producers in Ribera del Duero. Torremilanos is the second oldest wine-producing domain after the famous Vega Sicilia. Though founded in 1903, the current generation(s) began with Pilar Pérez Albéniz, who continues the winemaking expedition with both of her sons. Torremilanos was the first Demeter-certified biodynamic winery in the Ribera del Duero appellation, a huge feat from one of the most respected women in the Spanish wine world. This family continues innovation on their own terms with both traditional and creative wines.
Ojo Gallo means “rooster eye” in Castellano, a radiant candy-red wine that could be described as both a dark rosé or a light red. Its blend is classic to the clarete style of Ribera del Duero together, using both red and white varieties from old vines. Juice gets to coferment in cement, then it ages for eight months in used oak barrels. It is so fresh and juicy, though with depth and richness.
