In 1971, the Casanova di Neri Domaine was founded by Giovanni Neri, who saw great potential for vine growing in the eastern area of Montalcino. Cerretalto vineyard was acquired first, followed by their other prized sites. Researching soil types led to many of the vineyard discoveries; it was important to find unique expressions of terroir. Their first vintage of Brunello was in 1978; and the first Pietradonice harvest came later in 2000. The estate has now been passed on to his son, Giacomo. Today the estate covers an expansive 500 hectares of 63 vineyards, 20 olive groves, and forest. Casanova di Neri is complete with a wine resort so you may stay on-premise when you come to visit the tasting room, vineyards, or olive groves.
This is the “white label” from Casanova di Neri, a flagship wine of the estate while offering impeccable value. The Sangiovese vines are 20-50 years old. The ageing process takes place in oak barrels for 43 months, finishing in bottle for another six months. There is plenty of opportunity for further cellar potential.
