Variety: Pinot Noir
The domain of Bernard Moreau was founded in 1809 and deservingly, may be the most important winemaker in the village of Chassagne-Montrachet. The long-term goal of Moreau is after classic wines; timeless and never going out of style. The last two generations of Moreau are represented by Bernard, and his sons, Alexandre and Benoit. Bernard took over the domain at the ripe age of 14 years old, and increasingly heightened the reputation. The family’s approach is a natural one, in both the vineyard and cellar. Their holdings are spread throughout Chassagne, Volnay, and St. Aubin.
The village of Chassagne-Montrachet produces more white wine, though the red wine produced is just as important. The value for the red produced should be put on a pedestal as the outcome is unparalleled. The ‘vieilles vines’ were planted between 1960 and 1965 and there is just a touch of new oak used.
