La Baronne, Le Grenache Gris de Jean 2018Regular price $30.00 Save $-30.00
Variety: Grenache Gris
If you take some doctors, whose family has some old land holdings, and let them be farmers you end up with some pretty amazing juice. They care about all the health benefits of wine and they cut out all the things that are bad for you. They just make wine from grapes, pretty simple. They may be called “natural” but these are truly wines we crave and love. Jean is the village doctor and he and his wife have family ties in the wine world dating back to the 16th century. The family farms with organic, intuitive practices to preserve the life of the soils and the entire property works as an eco-system. There are some incredibly old vines on site, over 115 years old, and it is pretty special to have access to this age of rootstock.
Using one of the classic varieties of the Languedoc, Grenache Gris, the fruit is aged for several months on its skins. It then goes on to age in clay amphorae for several months. The skin maceration extends the life of this orange wine, protecting it from oxidation and giving it richness, spice, and texture!

Maxime is truly one of the movers and shakers in the wine world today. Pushing the natural wine movement forward and producing wines with integrity and personality. His property is in the South Eastern appellation of Corbiéres in the Languedoc-Roussillon region. Maxime understands that learning from the greats of the wine world gives you an unprecedented knowledge of the vineyard and winemaking, hence his time spent training with the famed Jean Foillard in Morgon. Truly a naturalist at heart, his wines show the terrior -- pure rock and garrigue, wild herbs and shrubs -- that covers this part of France.
