Corzano e Paterno, Rosato 2020Regular price $19.00 Save $-19.00
Wendel Gelpke, a Swiss architect, fell madly in love with these romantic hillsides. The Corzano property was purchased back in 1969, and then the neighboring property of Paterno in 1974. These hillsides are separated from the Chianti Classico subzone by the Via Cassia, a road that runs parallel to the river Pisa. Farming here has always been organic and her Sardinian sheep herd roams the rows to naturally fertilize the vines; talk about sustainability. As is classic for the area, the properties produce mainly Sangiovese. Wendel and the family own and operate the winery, and keep very occupied by making their own cheese and olive oil.
This is a purely Sangioves rosato, though in some years Canaiolo may be added. It is bottled the March after the harvest. This wine has become a gem vintage after vintage. The wine is consistent and always lovely.

The story of two brothers: even while still in high school, Eric was already collecting bottles of prized top dollar Burgundy and Chablis, hiding them under his bed when he started college. Lyle’s quest for knowledge landed him in Austria where he met one of his most important friends in the industry, sommelier Rajat Parr. After a decade of restaurant work, Eric returned to Santa Barbara to start his own project, Lieu Dit, inspired by the Loire. Older brother Lyle had also worn many hats in the industry, ultimately landing a job for one of the most esteemed importers Kermit Lynch, leading regional sales. After leading separate lives for some time, the brothers both felt a calling to merge their two paths, which is how Railsback Frères came to be born.

Montenidoli, Toscana Canaiuolo Rosato 2020Regular price $28.00 Save $-28.00
The estate is located just outside of the famed tower city of San Gimignano on the western border of the Chianti zone in Tuscany. The estate dates back to Roman times and there are stories of the Knights Templar using the property for meetings and ceremonies. Elisabetta and her husband bought the property in the ‘60’s and brought it back to life from its abandoned state. The couples’ profound respect for the land has always been the focus. Farming sustainably and respecting what nature gives them every vintage. Elisabetta's soul is caring and driven. She is a hard worker, and her mission is to leave this small place on earth better than the way she found it. She still travels the world pouring her wines telling stories.
The Canaiuolo rosato is named for the variety of the same name, noted for its importance of the wines in Chianti. Elisabetta held the rosé back to release it once it had an extra year to come together to her vision. She calls it a transgender, a balance of two identities. It has the gentleness of a white, but the strength of a red; the perfect wine.

Though the winery is young, the family continually push themselves to learn new things with each vintage. The wines are very low intervention with no added sulfites; little is done to the wines after the grapes have been pressed. Regardless of their decision to start their own trends, the dynamic winemaking couple are making great strides in Barcelona.
The Mirgin rosé is done in a Reserva style, aged for 15 months on its lees to create richness. Alta Alellas’s Cavas are rivaling champagne not only in quality, but at a staggering value.
Venica & Venica, Sauvignon Ronco del Cero 2019Regular price $30.00 Save $-30.00
Variety: Sauvignon Blanc
Daniele Venica purchased the plot Ronco del Ceró where he first planted Sauvignon in 1930. Three generations later, great grandson Giampaolo has taken over the estate, a true testimony to the tradition of keeping winemaking in the family. Venica now has 40 hectares all within the DOC—Denomination of Controlled Origin—of Collio. Sons Gianni (agronomist), Giorgio (cellar master), and grandson Giampaolo oversee operations supplemented by help from several family members. They believe their traditions must be enhanced through continuous research and innovation, but a relationship with nature is of utmost importance.
“Cerò” is the name of the village where Daniele Venica of the first generation purchased the family’s country house in the hills of Collio. “Ronca del Cero” represents the family’s origins which has carried over through four generations. This sees a modest amount of skin contact for 18-20 hours. A small part of the juice ages on the lees in small barrels while the rest of the wine is aged in stainless steel. This wine over delivers as a food pairing, making an excellent companion to ham, as well as asparagus, and vegetable creams.
Patrick Lambert, Chinon Rose 2020Regular price $20.00 Save $-20.00
Variety: Cabernet Franc
In the appellation of Chinon in the Central Loire Valley lies the humble village of Cravant les Coteaux. It is theorized that the “Cru” vineyards of the appellation dwell here. This is where Patrick Lambert farms some of the area's most exciting wines rivaling the more well-known names like Baudry and Pallus. Originally belonging to his grandfather, Patrick took over this estate in 1990. As is often the case for the new generation, he began making the kind of wine that he wanted to. This started with reducing the size of the estate to the best plots so he might focus on quality over quantity. He reduced yields and converted to organic farming. Certification for organic farming came in 2014. His vines range from 19-60 years in age. Everything is hand harvested.
This rosé employs similar tactics to that of the fresh and juicy Gourmandise Chinon, but the maceration is of course a little different. The wine undergoes half direct press method and half saignée (the bleeding method). The wine is aged in lined tanks underground in his home cellar.
